Brief introduction:

Liye Xiao, male, was born in August, 1966. He is member of international award committee for Global Energy Prize, fellow of International Cryogenic Engineering Committee, fellow of International Magnet Conference Organization Committee, member of the Electrical Engineering Group of the State Council Disciplinary Review Group and member of the Special Expert Group of the National Key R&D Program Smart Grid. He is also chairman of Beijing Electrotechnical Society and vice chairman of China Electrotechnical Society. Xiao got the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2002, won an honorary medal of Ten Outstanding Youth of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007, and led his team to obtain project funding of Innovative Research Groups of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2017. His research achievements are as follows. He and his team developed the world's first superconducting substation and put it into demonstration operation in 2011, which was selected as one of ten national technological progresses. In 2013, he developed the world's first grid-connected DC high-temperature superconducting cable (360m/10kA) in demonstration operation and it is also the high-temperature superconducting cable with the largest transmission current in the world.
